The cost of living crisis is dominating headlines. New Zealand has the highest inflation rate since 1990. Some of it is transitory, much of it is persistent. Interest rates are rising in response, and have a lot further to climb. Can the RBNZ engineer a slowdown without a hard landing? It will prove difficult with a housing market already in full retreat.
