Themes

Dairy Cattle Stream
The 2026 Dairy Cattle stream will explore the concept of the Connected Dairy Vet, highlighting the veterinarians role in linking cow-side skills with data, technology, and whole-farm system-level thinking to drive better outcomes for animals, farmers, and the environment.

From clinical cases to precision technology and farm-wide insights, this year's Dairy Cattle Stream celebrates connection across three key themes:

  • Connected to the cow: Practical, clinical excellence remains at the heart of veterinary work. Sessions will focus on the craft of individual animal care including calf health, surgery, diagnostics and treatment protocols, offering practical tools and insights to improve outcomes on farm.
  • Connected through technology: Exploring how technology is reshaping the way we understand and manage herds. Using real-world case studies, we'll look at how data, sensors, AI, and precision tools help veterinarians make better decisions, monitor performance and strengthen on-farm relationships.
  • Connected within the farm system: Veterinarians play a central role in supporting resilient and sustainable whole-farm systems. This theme brings together animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and farm business management, highlighting how veterinary input supports balanced, profitable, and responsible dairy farming. Expect discussions on mitigating the impact of weather events, calf rearing models, welfare standards, and the economic value of veterinary influence across the entire farm operation.
