With pet obesity being as common as one in two cats and dogs across Australia and New Zealand, it is critical that the veterinary profession proactively support the health of pets in this space. Weight conversations are challenging, however they can also be some of the most rewarding with tangible health benefits for the pets noticed by the pet owner. This builds a strength in the client-owner relationship with the practice, and also helps us deliver on our purpose of being the advocates for pets. We know that owner compliance is the key to pet weight loss journeys, but what we are still working out is the best way to support and motivate pet owners in this space. This webinar will explore the human psyche of the relationship with food, and how we infer this onto our pets. With New Zealand Human Clinical Nurse Specialist in Bariatrics Kate Berridge (RNcP, MN), we will learn more about ourselves to be able to support appropriate client interactions to coach them during their pets weight loss journey. Kate will be joined by Royal Canin Veterinary Manager Dr. Corey Regnerus (BVSc, BSc) in a facilitated session in order to understand and overcome common challenges faced with owner compliance in clinical scenarios around Australia and New Zealand.
