Dr Andy Gibson presents Mission Rabies

Over 99% of human rabies cases are caused by an infected dog bite. Once symptoms of the disease develop, it is fatal.

Mission Rabies is working to vaccinate dogs in rabies hotspots around the world - as the most effective long-term control strategy - to prevent the death of millions of dogs and thousands of people each year.

This programme is a brilliant and inspiring example of One Health in action with animal health, human health and social science groups all collaborating in very challenging environments to make significant inroads into this devastating and neglected zoonotic disease of humans in low income communities with poor to non-existent infrastructure.
